Afghan MP, 2 journalists, provincial prosecutor killed

KABUL -- An Afghan MP, two reporters and a provincial chief prosecutor were among seven civilians killed in Afghanistan June 5.

A remote-controlled bomb June 5 in Kabul killed MP Sher Wali Wardak, TOLO News reported. Two other civilians were killed.

The bomb exploded outside the gate of Wardak's house as he was coming home, officials said.

Muhammad Akram Nejat, the newly appointed chief prosecutor of Logar Province, was among at least seven people killed by the Taliban in Pul-i-Alam, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reported.

Nejat was making his first public appearance when three Taliban stormed the ceremony, the Interior Ministry said, adding that security forces killed the terrorists.

A Taliban ambush of an Afghan National Army (ANA) unit in Helmand Province killed a foreign journalist and his Afghan cameraman, TOLO News reported.

The army and journalists' vehicles came under shellfire.
