5 Pakistani policemen, 2 terrorists killed

RAWALPINDI -- A retired Pakistani army officer recently completed a five-year prison term for affiliation with the banned group Hizb ut-Tahrir (HT), Dawn reported.

Brig. (ret.) Ali Khan was arrested in May 2011. A court convicted him and four army majors of recruiting their colleagues to join HT.

Violence June 27-28 in Balochistan and in Karachi killed at least five police officers and two militants.

Two ambushes in Quetta left four police officers dead. The assailants escaped.

A police constable was fatally shot in Mach town, Balochistan, June 27, Dawn reported.

The para-military Rangers June 28 in Karachi killed two terrorists in a shoot-out, Dunya TV reported.

Police recently arrested a suspected terrorist in Karachi, the police said, according to Dunya TV.
