OSH, Kyrgyzstan -- The Bishkek-based religious NGO Iyman Foundation and the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) June 27 in Osh conducted an anti-extremism seminar for local police officers, Iyman said in a statement.
The seminar, "Islam in the modern world", was meant to teach local police how to prevent extremism in the public.
A Kyrgyz theologian and an Osh State University theology professor explained the nature of the Islamic community in Kyrgyzstan and the influence of Middle Eastern extremist movements on Central Asia.
