BISHKEK -- A Bishkek court June 29 sentenced three recaptured prison escapees to life in prison, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) reported. The court sentenced two accomplices, a man and a woman, to four years' imprisonment and four years' probation, respectively.
Last October, nine convicts, the majority of them extremists, escaped from a Bishkek jail, killing four guards in the process.
Three of the nine fugitives were killed in a shoot-out. Authorities recaptured six of them, but three died in custody.
