BISHKEK -- German Chancellor Angela Merkel July 13-14 will pay her first official visit to Kyrgyzstan, Kyrgyz government officials said, according to a July 7 Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty report.
Merkel plans to have talks with President Almazbek Atambayev, Kyrgyz MPs and members of civil society, Atambayev's press office said. Topics will include German-Kyrgyz ties and international challenges.
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier toured Central Asia in March to discuss terrorism and economic ties.
