OSCE sponsors Central Asian youth conference in Kyrgyzstan

Staff Report

BISHKEK -- About 40 youth from Afghanistan, Mongolia and Central Asian countries convened in Kara-Oi village, Issyk-Kul Province, for the September 10-11 Central Asian Youth Network (CAYN) conference, the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) said in a statement.

The OSCE founded the forum in 2004. A CAYN event took place in Almaty in July.

This year's topic is "Renewing dialogue, rebuilding trust, restoring security". Topics include "key challenges for comprehensive security in Central Asia and beyond". By holding CAYN events, the OSCE is seeking to "enhance young people's understanding of contemporary security threats", the OSCE said.
