BISHKEK -- Kyrgyz forces September 15 in Balykchy, Issyk-Kul Province, held the Peaceful Mission-2016 counter-terrorism exercises, the General Staff of the Armed Forces press office said in a statement.
The exercises involved 2,000 troops, 300 military vehicles and 40 combat aircraft. The purpose was to raise the ability of troops and special forces to fight terrorism and extremism.
Modern-day realities dictate the need to hold such drills, the director of Peaceful Mission-2016, army Col. Ruslan Mukambetov said, according to the General Staff.
