Iyman Foundation, Kyrgyz muftiate fight radicalism

BISHKEK -- The Bishkek-based religious NGO Iyman Foundation and the State Administration for Muslims of Kyrgyzstan October 5 in Bishkek conducted a seminar called "National culture and religion" for students of the Kyrgyz National University, the Iyman press office said in a statement.

The seminar is part of Iyman's efforts to raise the population's religious literacy and to fight extremism by promoting Islamic values, Iyman said in its statement.

Kyrgyz Deputy Mufti Akim haji Ergeshov addressed the students. Traditional Kyrgyz culture and Islam complement each other, he said.
