Authorities strengthen security in Dushanbe mosque

Staff Report

DUSHANBE -- All who come to Dushanbe's central mosque will be screened with metal detectors capable of identifying explosive devices. The metal detectors delivered to Haji Yaqub Mosque will soon be used to monitor the mosque's entrance, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty's Tajik Service reported October 11.

The municipal administration said the decision was passed in accordance with the anti-terror law, and that the measures will extend beyond the central mosque.

Tajikistani officials are constantly warning about the growing terror threat from the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) and other extremist groups.
