ASTANA -- "The terrorists turned single-family homes in Almaty into dormitories to recruit radicals," Member of Parliament Janat Jarasov said October 18 while discussing the anti-religious extremism and terrorism state programme in the Senate, Kazakhstani news site Tengrinews reported.
Citing special services reports, the MP explained that the terrorists offered newcomers extremely low rent in a number of houses, where they ideologically indoctrinated them.
"Youth, who had just come to Almaty, passed through these dormitories," Jarasov said. "These dormitories operated like a conveyor belt, refining young people into radicals."
