European bank to invest up to €1 billion in Kazakhstan in 2017

ASTANA -- The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is planning to invest from €800 million to €1 billon (281.1 billion to 351.4 billion KZT) in Kazakhstan in 2017, Kapital.kz reported Monday (December 12), quoting EBRD country director Janet Heckman at a recent Almaty news conference.

Kazakhstan has become the second largest recipient of EBRD investments, she said, adding that the EBRD's priorities in Kazakhstan are small and medium-sized enterprises, women-owned businesses and "green" projects.
