ISTANBUL -- Turkish police have identified the terrorist who killed 39 people in an Istanbul nightclub January 1 as Uzbekistani native Abulgadir Masharipov, Daily Sabah of Istanbul reported Saturday (January 7).
Masharipov's alias is Abu Mohammad Khorasan, according to media reports.
Turkish authorities suspect 40 individuals of involvement in the massacre. They are still pursuing Masharipov.
The "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) took responsibility for the attack.
The stimulant, administered in pill form, has reportedly been sanctioned by the 'Islamic State' as a means to facilitate 'jihad' as it gives fighters stamina.
