Kazakhstan's DUMK warns about radical movements in Islam

Staff Report

ASTANA -- The Spiritual Administration for the Muslims of Kazakhstan (DUMK) issued an announcement warning that radical Takfirist and Kharijite movements have stepped up their activities, e-islam.kz reported Tuesday (January 10), citing DUMK.

"Takfirists and Kharijites believe that you're not a Muslim if you don't pray, and they excommunicate you from Islam and consider you an infidel," DUMK said in a statement. "And their belief system has no prohibition on killing infidels and taking their property."

Apostates from these movements receive death threats from their former colleagues, DUMK added.

"We earnestly ask youth to avoid falling for their deceitful sermons, and also to be sceptical of information circulated by questionable websites," DUMK said.
