2 Tajiks convicted of aiding ISIL

Staff Report

DUSHANBE -- A Dushanbe court convicted two local residents of aiding the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) and of recruiting people to join it, Avesta.tj reported Saturday (January 21).

The sentences for M. Asrorov and A. Mirzoyev were not reported. Asrorov was found guilty of communicating online with Tajik citizens in Syria who were fighting for ISIL. He sought to go to Syria himself, but law enforcement captured him.

Mirzoyev wired US $800 (63,067 TJS) to his brother, who was fighting in Syria.
