BISHKEK -- Kyrgyz authorities on January 20 caught two alleged terrorists, the State National Security Committee (GKNB) said Wednesday (January 25), according to Radio Free Europe/Liberty (RFE/RL).

The arrests took place in Chui Province, AKIpress.org reported.

The suspects were carrying $56,000 in counterfeit US currency that had been printed in Turkey, the GKNB said, according to RFE/RL.

They are linked to two suspected Kyrgyz extremists living in Istanbul, the GKNB said, identifying one of those Istanbul residents as Ilyas Sabirov. He is wanted in Kyrgyzstan in connection with the suicide bombing of an embassy in Bishkek last year.
