ASTANA -- Kazakhstani authorities in 2016 seized or removed more than 110,000 extremist documents online glorifying extremism, terrorism, cruelty and suicide, Information and Communication Minister Dauren Abayev said during a meeting of his ministry's top officials, Vlast.kz reported Thursday (February 9).
His ministry co-operates with foreign social networks and law enforcement to combat extremism, he said.
"In 2016, the owners and administrators of internet resources received about 500 written complaints [from the ministry] pertaining to more than 150,000 documents," he said.
In 17 cases in 2016, his ministry went to court to seek permission to block sites, he added.
