Uzbekistan cancels resumption of Tashkent-Dushanbe flights

Staff Report

TASHKENT -- Uzbekistan cancelled the long-sought resumption of non-stop civilian flights between Tashkent and the Tajik capital of Dushanbe, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reported Monday (February 20), quoting the Tajik carrier Somon Air.

Somon Air operated one test flight between the capitals February 10, the first non-stop flight on the route since 1992.

The Uzbek government gave no explanation for suddenly cancelling the planned February 20 flight from Dushanbe to Tashkent, Somon Air said.

There was no announcement of later plans to resume the air service.
