TASHKENT -- Uzbekistan's parliament approved the introduction of a 10,000-UZS (about US$3) banknote, a spokesperson for the Central Bank of Uzbekistan said, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reported Wednesday (February 22).
The date of the new banknote's introduction was not disclosed.
The largest existing banknote in Uzbekistan is worth 5,000 UZS (about US$1.50). It entered circulation in July 2013.
The 10,000-UZS banknote is meant to ease cash payments.
