Kyrgyz police search residences of suspected Hizb ut-Tahrir members

JALAL-ABAD, Kyrgyzstan -- Members of the Interior Ministry (MVD) 10th Main Administration searched the residences of suspected Hizb ut-Tahrir members, 24.kg reported Tuesday (February 28), quoting the MVD press office.

The 10th Main Administration is an outfit that fights extremism and terrorism.

The searchers were acting in response to a criminal complaint raised by the Suzak District police. They seized 38 books, 16 DVDs, four paper notebooks and a number of flash drives, as well as other materials allegedly containing Hizb ut-Tahrir themes and messages.

Authorities are analysing the seized materials for extremist content. The residents of the searched homes had prior convictions for similar crimes.
