OSH PROVINCE, Kyrgyzstan -- The Kyrgyz State National Security Committee (GKNB) on February 22 in Osh Province arrested a suspected recruiter of militants for combat in Syria, kabar.kg reported Thursday (March 9), quoting the GKNB press office. The reason for the delay in reporting was not given.
The suspect is accused of recruiting and transporting other Kyrgyz nationals to go fight in Syria and Iraq for the Jama'at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad militant group. He is in custody as the investigation continues.
The GKNB identified the suspect as M. M., born in 1977 and a resident of Kara-Suu District, Osh Province.
