Kazakhstan holds counter-terrorism drills

ASTANA -- Security forces in Kazakhstan reviewed their counter-terrorism readiness in Aktobe and Almaty, media reported.

The Aktobe police Friday (March 10) conducted counter-terrorism exercises, the Counter-Terrorism Committee of Kazakhstan reported, quoting the Aktobe Province police.

Meanwhile in Almaty, the police completed an inspection of 1,414 buildings and other facilities to assess their security against terrorism, Kazakhstanskaya Pravda reported Friday (March 10). The places inspected include major government buildings and sites that attract crowds, like train stations.

Authorities fined 55 facility or building managers for failing to conduct adequate measures.
