DUSHANBE -- Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Pakistani Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif Friday (March 17) conferred in Dushanbe on their countries' relationship, Rahmon's press office said in a statement. Asif also holds the water and energy portfolio in the Pakistani cabinet.
Both sides praised the results of their co-operation in security, which includes the fight against terrorism that threatens the region, as well as Pakistani technical assistance to Tajikistan's border security efforts.
Rahmon and Asif reviewed the countries' co-operation in energy and transport. They proposed expanding bilateral trade by relying on their inter-governmental commission for trade co-operation.
