Andijan police inspecting students' computers for extremist content

Staff Report

ANDIJAN, Uzbekistan -- Students at an Islamic secondary school in Andijan are still waiting for notebook computers that their school officials confiscated two months ago, Central Asian News Service reported Wednesday (March 22).

At the time that school officials took the computers, they promised to return them in three or four days. The school principal has repeatedly told the students that police are examining the computers for extremist content.

Abdulaziz Mansur, deputy chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Uzbekistan, promised to answer Central Asian News Service's inquiry about the situation after a detailed review.
