3 Kazakhstanis sentenced for terrorism

KARAGANDA, Kazakhstan -- Three residents of Satpayev received various prison terms for promoting terrorism via phone and social networks, the Karaganda Province prosecutor's office said in a Wednesday (April 5) statement.

Duisenbek Tukubayev was sentenced to three years and three months in prison for using his phone "to inform a local resident who ended up joining ISIL [the 'Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant'] and going to Syria", according to Karaganda Province prosecutor's spokesman Nurlan Abjanov, reported Inform.kz.

Nursultan Boranbai (sentenced to five years) and Azamat Jadrin (6.5 years) were found guilty of publishing extremist videos and audio files on the VKontakte social network.
