Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan sign strategic partnership agreement

Staff Report

ASTANA -- Kazakhstani President Nursultan Nazarbayev and his Turkmenistani counterpart Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov Tuesday (April 18) singed a strategic partnership accord and 10 agreements during Berdymukhamedov's visit in Astana, president.kz reported.

"Today, we also signed a large packet of agreements to further deepen Kazakhstani-Turkmenistan relations," Nazarbayev said. "Two of them that I would particularly like to highlight are the Strategic Partnership Agreement and the agreement to demarcate the state border between our countries. Thus, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan are the only two states in the region that have entirely resolved their border disputes."

During the visit, the presidents also signed agreements to create an interstate commission to co-ordinate anti-money laundering and terrorism financing efforts.
