DUSHANBE -- A court in Dushanbe sentenced a Tajik militant to 14 years in prison, Avesta.tj reported Tuesday (May 2), quoting the Tajik General Prosecutor's Office.
The defendant, A. Alamurodov, became radicalised while working abroad and joined the Jannat Oshiklari militant group.
He flew from Dushanbe to Istanbul in April 2016 and travelled to Syria, where he fought against government forces for two months, according to prosecutors.
Last September, he returned to Turkey, where authorities arrested him and extradited him to Tajikistan.
