ASTANA -- Astana authorities Thursday (May 4) conducted a counter-terrorism exercise at a local bicycle racing track, Kazinform reported Thursday, quoting the local counter-terrorism department.
The department asked "guests and residents of the capital ... not to panic" during the exercise, during which local forces worked on their skills "in conducting a special operation and in minimising [the consequences of] a terrorist act".
The exercise was meant to simulate combat conditions as closely as possible.
