Uzbekistan, Tajikistan work to solve territorial disputes

DUSHANBE -- Tajikistan and Uzbekistan's joint inter-governmental commission convened in Dushanbe Tuesday and Wednesday (May 30-31) to discuss the country’s unresolved borders, AsiaPlus.tj reported Tuesday, citing a source within the Tajik government.

As of now, only about 60km of the countries' border remains disputed, said the source. Their joint border extends for 1,333 km.

Tajik Deputy Foreign Minister Makhmadsharif Khakdod leads his country's delegation, while Uzbekistani special envoy Ilkhom Nematov heads Uzbekistan's.

Why is it only 60 km, what about Samarkand and Bukhara?
