Aktobe Province rehabilitated 170 extremists this year

Staff Report

AKTOBE, Kazakhstan -- Authorities in Aktobe Province, Kazakhstan, this year say they have rehabilitated 170 members of extremist religious movements, Moi Gorod reported Thursday (June 15).

The individuals went back to mainstream religious beliefs, according to the provincial government's Council for Communications with Religious Associations.

That success proves the effectiveness of official measures to target groups vulnerable to extremist messages, say local officials.
