Tajiks investigate Afghan shell that hit Khatlon province

DUSHANBE -- The Tajik Border Troops are investigating an Afghan shell that landed on Tajik territory Friday (June 16), Avesta.tj reported Monday (June 19), quoting Border Troops spokesman Mukhammad Ulugkhojayev.

The shell landed 3km from the border in a cotton field in Farkhor District, Khatlon Province.

Afghan officials are blaming the incident on the Taliban, according to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty's Tajik service.
