Uzbekistan rejects idea of sending troops to Syria

TASHKENT -- Uzbekistan will not be sending troops to fight in Syria, Uzbekistani Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov said in Tashkent Wednesday (July 5), according to 1news.uz.

Kamilov spoke on live TV, answering other Uzbekistanis' questions, according to the Foreign Ministry press office.

"Uzbekistani troops won't participate in military operations in Syria or anywhere else," he said, adding, "Uzbekistan will preserve its status of staying out of all blocs."

The question arose after Russia raised the idea with Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, according to 1news.uz.
