TASHKENT -- Uzbekistani security forces conducted counter-terrorism drills in various Tashkent wholesale markets Monday (July 3) and Wednesday (July 5), Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty's Uzbek service reported Thursday (July 6).
Forces from the Interior Ministry (MVD) and the National Security Service (SNB) participated in the drills, which included personnel with dogs searching stores and containers.
The drills reportedly aroused concern among passersby and storekeepers who were not notified beforehand.
