Tajik IS member sentenced to 12 years in prison


DUSHANBE -- A Dushanbe court sentenced a Tajik man to twelve an a half years in prison for trying to go to Syria to join the "Islamic State" (IS), Avesta.tj reported Monday (July 17), quoting the Tajik General Prosecutor's Office.

M. Khudoyerov became radicalised in 2015 while working in Russia, the court found, adding that he was arrested when trying to board a flight to Istanbul.

Russian authorities extradited him to Tajikistan.
