OSH PROVINCE, Kyrgyzstan -- Kyrgyz authorities arrested a man who had returned from fighting in Syria and Iraq and allegedly was plotting to blow himself up in a public place, AKIPress.org reported Thursday (July 20), quoting the State National Security Committee (GKNB) press office.

Authorities arrested the suspect in Kara-Suu District, Osh Province, and identified him only as M. A., born in 1980.

M. A. allegedly received training as a suicide bomber and had assembled a bomb for his own use. Authorities searching his residence say they found a bomb and other extremist materials, including printed and electronically stored propaganda.

M. A. is accused of fighting as an insurgent in Syria and Iraq and of receiving orders from his terrorist group to commit a suicide bombing.
