ASTANA -- So far this year, Kazakhstani authorities have rehabilitated 1,134 citizens "who suffered from the activity of destructive religious movements", said the Religious Affairs and Civil Society Ministry in a Friday (July 28) statement.

The ministry credited the country's rehabilitation centres for their "stepped-up work", adding that in the first half of 2017 they "conducted more than 5,000 measures in which 6,630 people participated".

Rehabilitation centres, all provincial governments, and the Astana and Almaty municipal governments share in the work of rehabilitating former extremists.
