TASHKENT -- Uzbekistani authorities August 11 freed Yerkin Musayev after 11 years of unjust imprisonment, Human Rights Watch said in a Monday (August 14) statement.
Musayev was a UN employee at the time of his unfounded conviction on espionage charges. He earlier worked for the Uzbekistani government. He becomes the fifth political prisoner released since President Shavkat Mirziyoyev took office last September.
