OSH, Kyrgyzstan -- Kyrgyz human rights activists Tuesday (October 24) marked the 10th anniversary Tuesday (October 24) of the slaying of journalist Alisher Saipov, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reported.
Saipov, an ethnic Uzbek and founder of the now-defunct Siyosat (Politics) newspaper, was fatally shot in Osh city.
Activists, as well as his former colleagues, friends and relatives, commemorated his death at his former house in Osh, which his family turned into a museum.
A Kyrgyz court sentenced Osh resident Abdulgafar Rasulov in 2010 to 20 years in prison for killing Saipov. However, Saipov's family and friends assert that the "real killers" escaped punishment.
The Interior Ministry (MVD) opened a new investigation in 2012 but has not identified more suspects.
