ATYRAU, Kazakhstan -- Kazakhstan is building a new wind farm in Isatay District, Atyrau Province, as part of a new state programme on renewable energy development, Kazinform reported Thursday (February 15).

The country is also pushing construction of solar power stations.

The wind farm along the Caspian coast has planned output of 52MW and is scheduled for completion in 2020.

The project includes the construction of two sub-stations that will be linked to a network operated by AtyrauZharyk JSC, according to Jumabay Karagayev, chief of the province's Department of Energy and Housing and Communal Services.

The new wind farm is expected to produce about 13-14% of all electricity in the province, he said.
