BISHKEK -- Kyrgyzstan has seen an increase in cases of child molestation during the past year, Deputy Interior Minister Kursan Asanov told the parliamentary committee on social issues, education, science, culture and health care Monday (February 26), 24.kg reported.
Kyrgyzstan registered 151 cases of sexual abuse of children in 2017, compared to 110 in 2016, Asanov said, adding that 121 of last year's cases were sent to court.
In 80% of such cases, the perpetrator is someone close to the child, he added.
