BISHKEK -- Kyrgyzstan this year will begin implementing projects throughout the country for clean drinking water, Baktybek Adbiyev, director of the State Agency for Architecture, Construction, Housing and Utilities, said Wednesday (March 28), 24.kg reported.

Adbiyev made his remarks at a meeting in Bishkek on water projects.

The effort envisions clean drinking water for all of Kyrgyzstan's provinces by 2023.

Of the nation's 1,860 towns and cities, 430 either have no clean drinking water or an obsolete water system, according to Abdiyev.

The State Construction Committee will be in charge of attracting investment and working with local authorities to complete the water projects, he added.
