MANAS, Uzbekistan -- The Uzbekistani government developed a predominately ethnic Kyrgyz village in just 45 days, AKIpress.org reported Tuesday (April 3).

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in February ordered the restoration of the formerly dilapidated village of Manas, which accommodates more than 6,500 residents. Work began that month, according to his press office.

The government constructed new, multi-storey buildings to replace older houses, as well as a modern kindergarten, a medical centre and a sports field.

Mirziyoyev visited Manas March 30 and discussed with the population new economic projects for developing the village, according to a presidential press release.
