Kyrgyz authorities arrest suspected ex-Syria insurgent
BISHKEK -- Kyrgyz authorities have arrested a Kyrgyz man accused of joining the insurgency in Syria, according to the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) press office, 24.kg reported Wednesday (April 4). The location and date of his arrest were not reported, nor was his name.
The GKNB arrested him in the course of operations meant to thwart terrorist plots by defeated militants streaming back from Syria and Iraq, said the GKNB.
The man participated in combat against Syrian government troops, said the GKNB, adding that he is detained in a GKNB jail awaiting trial.
