Kazakhstan declares ban on Russian gasoline imported by train

ASTANA -- Kazakhstan's Ministry of Energy announced a three-month ban on Russian gasoline being imported to the country by train, 24.kg reported Thursday (May 31).

The ministry said it has notified the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) of the move.

The temporary measure was introduced to help deal with a surplus of oil and lubricants that resulted from the modernisation of Kazakhstan's oil refineries, according to the Association of Oil Traders of Kyrgyzstan.

Kyrgyzstan will not be affected by the ban, said the association.
