BISHKEK -- Kyrgyzstan is cracking down on corrupt government officials, said Secretary of the Security Council Damir Sagynbayev Friday (June 8), 24.kg reported.
Corruption is potentially costing the state budget billions of soms, Sagynbayev said at a meeting of the Co-ordination Council of the Prosecutor General's Office.
Officials found to be corrupt will be prosecuted regardless of any previous achievements, he said.
The fight against corruption has begun in all areas and will not stop, Sagynbayev said, adding that the country's leadership is backing the effort.
