BISHKEK -- Kyrgyzstan has allocated 2.9 million KGS ($42,000) to purchase an X-ray scanning system and metal detectors to protect parliament, 24.kg reported Wednesday (June 13).

Guards will use the system to scan small parcels, luggage and other items. It has software that identifies various materials using different colours, vastly simplifying the job of the system's operators.

The metal detector will be able to process 60 individuals per minute.

The supplier who wins the tender is expected to install the system and to train guards to use it.
