ASTANA -- Kazakhstan is set to host a conference on radio development in Asia, Kazinform reported Thursday (July 5).

The Asia Media Dialogue will take place in Astana on July 5-8 for the first time, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of Astana's elevation to capital Friday (July 6).

During various workshops and conferences, media officials will discuss best practices in the European and Asian media markets on matters like starting a radio station from the ground up and researching one's audience.

The conference will also include the ABU Radio Song Festival, which the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union organises.

The Kazakh Information and Communications Ministry, ATBC and KazMedia Ortalygy, in co-operation with the Astana Convention Bureau, are organising the conference.

The heads of private and national broadcasters from Australia, Belgium, Germany, Japan, China and other European and Asian states are expected to moderate some of the events.
