TASHKENT -- A US delegation visiting Tashkent held two days of trade talks Wednesday-Thursday (August 15-16), according to the Uzbekistan National News Agency.

The delegation, led by Assistant US Trade Representative for South and Central Asian Affairs Mark Linscott, went to the Senate Wednesday and to the Foreign Ministry Thursday.

The two sides discussed the implementation of investment and trade agreements worth $4.8 billion (38 trillion UZS) reached during Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's first official visit to the United States in May, as well as further co-operation between the two countries.

The United States became the largest investor in Uzbekistan in the first quarter of this year, providing 28% of total investment, according to the two sides.

The officials also underlined the importance of a US initiative for a "US Business Week in Uzbekistan" in October.
