ASTANA -- Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev Monday (August 27) gave specific orders to the director of the country's Foreign Intelligence Service, also known as Syrbar, to co-ordinate with foreign intelligence agencies, according to Nazarbayev's press office.

"It is necessary to closely co-operate with [your] colleagues from foreign security agencies," Nazarbayev told Syrbar Director Gabit Baizhanov in Astana. "Keep a constant eye on adherents of terrorist ideas, including returnees from Syria. This should be the main direction of your work."

Nazarbayev also stressed the importance of preserving friendly relations with neighbouring states.

During the meeting, Baizhanov briefed Nazarbayev on Syrbar's activities and results during the first six months of 2018.
