Tashkent to host Central Asian transportation conference

TASHKENT -- Tashkent is set to host a conference on Central Asian transport corridors on September 20-21, the Uzbekistan National News Agency reported Friday (September 14).

About 340 guests from more than 50 countries are expected to attend the event, titled "Central Asia in the System of International Transport Corridors: Strategic Prospects and Unrealised Opportunities".

The main focus of the conference will be developing a dialogue with international financial institutions, transport trade associations and cargo-transporting firms on the construction or improvement of transport corridors.

Topics will include new corridors in the region; the development of customs and border procedures for international freight transport; training of specialists; regulation of railway shipping rates; and the introduction of IT and of marketing and digital transport services.

Those attending are expected to sign memoranda and other agreements.
