Kyrgyz agencies continue deposits to corruption compensation fund

BISHKEK -- Kyrgyzstan's security agencies recently contributed more than 12 million KGS ($170,000) to the nation's corruption compensation fund, 24.kg reported Monday (October 1).

The Ministry of Finance opened the account July 3 to holds funds seized in corruption cases, as well as compensation for damage to the state caused by economic crimes and by abuse of office.

The State Service for Combating Economic Crimes transferred more than 6.5 million KGS ($94,000) to the account, according to the agency's press office.

Last week, the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) also added more than 5.8 million KGS ($84,000).

As of September 12, Kyrgyz agencies have contributed almost 395.6 million KGS ($5.7 million) to the fund, according to the Finance Ministry.
